Opened in 2014 at the former Soesterberg Soest airbase, the NMM has an aviation collection that was previously exhibited in the MLM, the Military Aviation Museum.
For many years, the MLM was located at the Zeist camp in Soesterberg.
The NMM houses the entire Dutch military history, of which military aviation is a part.
Unfortunately, the NMM has not exhibited its entire aviation collection in the museum.
Many beautiful aviation objects reside in the depot of the NMM.

This Fokker F.27 Friendship Mark 300M Troopship is part of the outdoor collection of the NMM.
It is cn 10160, and registered as C-10
It is one of the twelve F.27s that have been in service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
The C-10 was phased out at the Royal Netherlands Air Force in 1993 and transferred in 1997 to the MLM, now the NMM.
The KLu F.27s have had various paintings in their more than thirty-five years of existence at the KLu.
This camouflage painting was introduced at the KLu Friendships in the late 1960s.
The C-10 in the courtyard of the then MLM at the Zeist camp in Soesterberg.
With this paint scheme, the C-10 flew for a number of years with the display team of the Royal Netherlands Air Forces.
This is one of thirty-nine Fokker S.11 Instructors who have flown with the Royal Netherlands Air Force and the Naval Aviation Service.
The E-22, with cn 6213, is standing here in one of the two halls of the MLM at the Zeist camp in Soesterberg.
The E-22 was in service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force from February 1951 to September 1973.
Twenty-one of the twenty-one S.14 Machtrainers built were employed by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. This in the period from 1955 to 1967.
After the phasing out, a number of aeronautical technical schools have ended up as key objects for future aircraft mechanics.
Two have ended up completely in museums:
* The L-II shown here with cn 7356 at the MLM en
* the prototype with civil registration PH-XIV and cn 6289 in the Aviodrome in Lelystad.
The photo shows the L-II in the MLM at the Zeist camp in Soesterberg.
Here is the L-II on the platform in front of the NMM in Soest.
This D.XXI with registration 221 is a replica that was built in 1987 / 1988 at the Fokker business school at Schiphol-East.
After that, the 221 was transferred to the MLM.
In this photo the 221 is in one of the two halls of the then MLM.
The same 221 hanging from a ceiling, now in the collection of the NMM.
This original D-VII was bought by Fokker in 1981 from the American Wings and Wheels museum.
In collaboration with the Air Force, this D-VII has been restored at the Fokker business school at Schiphol-East.
After the restoration, the D-VII was handed over to the MLM at the Zeist camp in Soesterberg.
In this photo, the 266 is in one of the two halls of the MLM.
'266' is not the original registration of this D-VII.
The working number of this German-built D-VII is 2523.
With the German Air Force it had the registration 436-18 in the First World War.
A D-VII with registration 266 has flown with the then LVA, but the work number is unknown.
Here is the 266 in the NMM in Soest.
