T.IVa

The Fokker T.IVa

By the mid-1930s, the need arose for an improved version of the T.IV.

Fokker developed the T.IVa where the cockpit was now closed.

At a later stage the gun turrets were also covered.

The main improvement was the use of the 9-cylinder Wright Cyclone SR-1820-F2 750 hp engines.

The engine was fitted with two-bladed or three-bladed propellers, the three-bladed ones being adjustable.

In total, the MLD ordered 12 T.IVa's.

In December 1941 there were still ten T.IVa's in service with the MLD

The aircraft were no longer capable of operational use.

On March 1, 1942, the remaining aircraft were ordered to fly to a shelter near Modjekerto.

The war in the Indies against the Japanese was already coming to an end and the next day the aircraft were set on fire by the crew.
