Only one F.VIIB-3m MONOSPAR has been built.
On May 18, 1926 Fokker delivered a F.VIIB-3m with cn 4917 to the British Air Ministry who registered the aircraft as J7986.
In April 1927 the aircraft was remodeled and received an all metal wing designed by Helmuth Stieger at "The Gloster Aircraft Co Ltd." in Brockworth. Not only the material was different, but also the construction.
The wing had one aluminum front spar (monospar) instead of a wooden front and rear spar. The ribs were mounted on the spar, thus giving the profile of the wing. From the centre of the wing it became wider towards the fuselage.
The aircraft was tested at the RAE, Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough Airport and was scrapped in the early 1930s. This F.VIIB-3m was the only model with one metal wing.
